The 2022 Hobie Outback comes with four vertical rod holders. However, I prefer to use a horizontal rod storage solution similar to what they include with the Hobie Pro Angler models. In this quick video I’ll show you the solution I’ve settled on.

The Backstory

Here’s the full breakdown on my 2022 Hobie Outback!

Kayak Fishing Addict

When I upgraded my 2019 Hobie Compass to a 2022 Hobie Outback, my back camera boom had to be adjusted to get close to the same back angle that I had before. I now mount that camera boom on the side and lean it toward the center of the kayak. This lowers the camera a bit from the angle I had previously. What I noticed is that when I store a rod in the back rod holders behind me, it blocks that back camera. Also, it gets in the way of casting the same way that it did on my Hobie Compass. Installing a horizontal rod holder solution solves both problems, in essence, it solves two birds with one stone.
