I know, I know, I haven’t been out in quite some time. Well, I’m back and in the next few posts I’ll introduce you to a few new changes. This is my first kayak fishing addict adventure using my new-to-me Rivian R1T. You’ll also see a new Kayak Trailer in this video. More on that in another blog post. But enough about the changes, time to put some fish in the boat!
The Backstory
So why the new-to-me truck? Well the Toyota PreRunner is 21 years old and it served me well. We went on many an adventure together! But it was time to invest in something that would carry more people (I don’t always fish and it was a 2 seater) and a little bit newer. Thus, I picked up a used Rivian R1T.
What happened to the kayak loading cart? I’ll get into that in another post soon but suffice it to say, it was time for me to save my back and stop having to unload the kayak at the marsh! That cart is serving a new purpose and yes, the PVC bunks are the same ones from the cart so at least there’s that.
So what a nice fish to start my new adventures with! The day was too windy to put the drone in the air but I was happy that I got out! Seeing the dolphin smashing what must have been some unsuspecting redfish in the flat was a great way to experience nature. I’m only glad I had enough smarts to move so that I could find one of my own. And it didn’t go to waste. I got home and made some Redfish Taco’s! What a nice meal.
There’s not much more of a backstory to this one, other than learning how to backup the kayak trailer is a bit more difficult than I thought….but again, more on that in another post. Enjoy the video!
