Redfish and Chad Hoover – It Doesn’t Get Better Than That!

Field Trips are always fun, especially when Kayak fishing. Today I left my home marsh behind to kayak fish the marsh in Flagler Beach, Florida. The Redfish bite was on! In this episode I also include a chance meeting in the marsh with Chad Hoover, a pretty popular Kayak Fisherman and YouTuber.

Flagler Beach, Florida is about a 20 minute drive north of Ormond Beach, Florida where my home marsh is. If you take A1A it’s a scenic drive with some iconic Flagler Beach landmarks like the ocean fishing pier. The marsh area I fish is called “summer beach” by the local kayak fishermen. It’s an interesting marsh that’s peppered with many small islands where redfish can hide to ambush their prey. It’s located south of the SR100 bridge in Flagler Beach which is south of the Matanzas Inlet where the ocean meets the intercostal and the marsh. There’s a small beach kayak launch in a small quaint neighborhood park just southwest of the bridge (link below).

Earlier in the week, in my practice sessions for what may become an upcoming episode, I ran into a Kayak Fishing celebrity in my home marsh. His name is Chad Hoover and his channel is KayakBassinTV. If you don’t know who he is, you must not be one of his 80K or so subscribers! I’ll show you some raw footage of my marsh meeting with Chad. A fun fact that he related to me was that his original channel name was…you guessed it… Kayak Fishing Addict! He changed it because back in the day….well, watch the footage and you’ll see why.
