Kayak fishing is a lot of fun. Sometimes you catch the fish, and sometimes they catch you. I imagine one of them said, “I caught my first fisherman today!”
I have to admit, kayak fishing is a bit of a challenge in the Summer in Florida. The heat, tidal swing, and weather can all ruin your day. Sometimes the Tidal swing is so small that the high tide is low. When it’s like that, it definitely takes a kayak to get back to where the fish are, and it also takes determination! But if you stick it out, you can put some great fish in the boat! Don’t believe me? Watch the video!
Backstory
In the opening montage you’ll see a rusted out metal case with stuff inside of it. I have no idea but someone must have hooked that at the launch and pulled it ashore. They left it and it looked interesting so I filmed it. If you know what that is, post a comment below with your thoughts!
The water conditions were nearly perfect today, sans the low tide and the dirty water. LOL, I guess that’s not what I’d call nearly perfect now that I think about it, but what I mean is that every inch of that marsh was in motion. Bait fish were all over the place. It was the type of conditions that I look for normally.
That said, the fishing was a bit tougher than it should have been. Several kayak fishermen came back with nothing. As you can see in the video, I managed to catch three. In fact, it was a slam; a snook, a redfish, and a speckled trout all made it in the boat. That said, only the speckled trout was in the slot! All in all though it was an extremely fun time out on the water.
